To act as a driving force to develop a permanent endowment, to assess and to respond to emerging and changing community needs, to provide a vehicle and service donors with varied interests and levels of giving, and to serve as a resource catalyst for charitable activities in the community

Most Meaningful Change

As a fairly new community foundation, we are still trying to get our message out to the public about who we are and what we do to help philanthropy in our region. In doing that, we were given a trust fund from the estate of a gentleman from Zapata, Texas, who had no heirs and wanted to help educate Zapata’s high school seniors. This man grew up in Illinois and retired in Zapata because he and his wife loved the small town, the weather and the people. What a wonderful way to give back to his “new” community!
